It was unfortunate that he (a Singaporean male) got trapped for nearly 24 hours under the rubble of a hotel during the earthquake that happened recently in Indonesia’s Sumatra island.
What was fortunate is that he has reportedly been rescued and taken to a medical centre.
According to CNN journalist Mark Philips, the Singaporean was in the foyer of the hotel when the quake struck.
Receiving a phone call, my sister asked, “Is the ground shaking?” It seems an earthquake has struck Indonesia and residents in Singapore were slight affected.
“An earthquake with a magnitude of 7.6 has struck western Indonesia, says Indonesia’s meteorological agency. Tremors have been reportedly felt in certain parts of Singapore as well, including Toa Payoh, Bukit Panjang, Marine Parade and Whampoa.”
The worst or perhaps most ideal scenario has finally taken place. Miss World Singapore winner Ris Low has officially stepped down from the crown and backed out of the finals in Johannesburg, South Africa in December.
The 19-year-old beauty queen said, “I feel that it would be better for everyone, including Singaporeans who are not very supportive of me going to this pageant.” She added, “This is actually the best for everybody, including the company, the public and for myself. A friend of mine was on MSN complaining about the difficulty he was having from simply getting back to his doorstep – having his car sold and the new one not arrive was besides the point.
The cause of his dilemma started just about the same time as the long awaited F1 race. Due to the event, roads around his area were blocked and that bag of lazy bones probably couldn’t withstand the detours I reckon.
