I hate to say this but I really don’t see the point of attending the event “Webby Night: The Webby 5’s” (by Webby Awards), last Thursday at Velvet Underground.

I attended two media events yesterday – Sony Vaio P Launch Event and Webby Awards (whatever). The Sony Vaio P Launch was pretty neat, “fashion show” and all. However, the Webby Awards were very much a disappointment.

I’m not going to say much for now, since I’m rushing off to check out the “Singapore Tattoo Show 09: Meeting of Tattoo artists from the West & East” (you can find out more about it by clicking on the link).

All I have to say now is that the evening (or rather more towards the night) was pretty much a waste of time.

As most of you already know, companies are starting to get into the “new/social media” scene. In the recent months many such events have been held. There are event events that tailored only to bloggers (yes, without the traditional media).

Different from other major brands, Philips tends to separate blogger events from media events – which is good cause sometimes bloggers and journalists don’t mix very well.

On November 21, 2008, Philips held an event at the Scarlet Hotel. During the event, Philips presented their latest offerings from Philips Consumer Lifestyle division.
