Activating Unlocked Cell Phones…
What can I say. Hooking up an ‘Unlocked Cell Phones‘ for service is a relatively easy process, even if you don’t have a contract yet.

The first task at hand is to sign up for the service any of the available outlets island wide. (Well, those in Singapore are island wide… Can’t say the same for the rest though.) Of course, they will ask you if you need a phone, but if you already have one by all means don’t buy another. Tell the sales representative that you already own a handset.
(They may ask which model you own for market survey purposes or something, but they shouldn’t require that information to provide service.)
Once you’ve signed your contract and have your SIM card, just pop it into the phone and start making calls. (But of course, the service has to be activated first.) It is as simple as that.
Okay. There are a couple points to keep in mind though…
In order to browse the Web, you will need to make sure your phone is programmed with the Internet settings. The carrier can give you the settings, but you also can find them on the maker’s website.
(By the way, don’t listen to the store reps that dissuade you from using ‘Unlocked Phones‘ by telling you it’s inherently faulty. That’s like totally not true!)
Hmmm… Have I missed anything out?
Ah yes. If a phone comes free (or nearly free) with your contract, you should think about getting it anyway. It’s always a good idea to have another phone around in case your primary handset is lost or stolen.
